TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Release) Community Animal Welfare
Humane population control and disease prevention.
The number of unwanted and uncared for animals in Kenya, especially dogs and cats, causes untold suffering. On a daily basis we are called to assist orphaned, abused, sickly and injured animals, but it is not only the animals who are impacted. Two thousand people still die every year from rabies in Kenya, mostly caused by dog bites. Many people lose animals which they rely on due to lack of access to animal health services. This is all preventable by helping communities access the help they need through vaccination and sterilisation campaigns and by providing community-based welfare and health care.
We are aiming to grow our community-based animal health work to ensure that more than thousands of animals are sterilised and vaccinated in low income communities every year.
We do this by working in focus areas to achieve coverage significant enough to ensure lasting change. We also work with communities to provide support on other welfare aspects, and we advocate for easier access to affordable health care.
